Summary:

The last time Bilbo stepped foot in Aberdeen it was with a broken heart and a bachelor’s degree. All things considered, this time isn’t so different.


So what you have here is basically an excellent ghost story of the classic variety, only with a wonderful twist (hint: it's a slow-burn romance, just the way I like it), but that's just the bare bones of the thing. I won't spoil the plot for you, but suffice to say the story is very well-written, inventive, sweet and fun and sad and hopeful in all the right places, and has all the characters spot-on.

And yes, there's this one bit where I cried buckets. And the other where I squealed with true pure delight. And now I think I must treat myself to a reread.

Ooohh, I remember this fic! It's so ethereal & beautiful, and I kind of love how everything about Thorin & where he came from isn't fully explained in the end but maintains the mystery – as well as the fact that it doesn't exactly matter, as long as they're together. Good choice! ♥
