Summary:

Poe Dameron expects to die at the hands of the First Order. There's no one coming to save him, after all. And he expects to die even less pleasantly when General Hux sees fit to give him to an unknown woman in return for services rendered.

But neither the woman nor her bodyguard are what they seem, and Poe Dameron might just have fallen in with the people who will help him win the war.

Where Rey has all the kindness and fury of sunshine, Finn is the sweetest cinnamon roll and all the more badass for it, and Poe Dameron is lost and in love in the middle of a war (and hurting too prettily, if you're into that kind of thing. I am.)

This is a story where a dash of cloak and dagger, a pinch of flashy Force magic, a big dollop of pining, a brimming cupful of hurt/comfort, and all the ex-Stormtrooper feels are mixed together with a solid alternate timeline to make a plot that improves on canon in so many ways. And I’m not only talking about the romance here; I’m talking about not handwaving things that are painful, or difficult, or hard to deal with.

It is not an entirely happy-go-lucky tale, but neither is it unnecessarily grim - I think I would best describe the ending as 'hopeful'. Many things are changed for the better, but some things even time might not entirely repair.

But it's all right. It tastes real; it tastes like life. With happy smutty sprinkles on top ♥
