Summary:

There’s no strategic value in the tiny human who’s finally let go of his neck and is falling asleep in his lap, except that he won’t grow up to be a Stormtrooper. Finn knows better than anybody that one Stormtrooper more or less doesn’t make any difference to anything.

Recommended because Finn doggedly trying to find strategic justification for following his own heart breaks me not a little bit, and because I love how well he and Poe play together here: seamless teamwork is always a joy. And all the little practical detail (to quote an example: all the junk that successive Resistance pilots have left in the cockpit) is quite simply delightful and makes for good immersion in a small wordcount.

Not to mention that part two is just as good or even better. (Or: this rec is a not-so-clever ruse to get you all to read pt. 2.)
