This week's rec is not so much a rec as an underhanded, ill-disguised attempt to nudge people towards a very lovely set of books by a talented author.

BUT: the fic itself, being pre-canon, is quite non-spoilery, and what's more important, it does an excellent job of capturing the character voices and the unique -- and very, very weird -- chemistry between them, which are both essential ingredients of the original story. Also, I always love a good paperwork heist, even in the short form.
