Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Star Wars - All Media Types
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Major Character Death
Relationships: Chirrut Îmwe/Baze Malbus
Characters: Baze Malbus, Chirrut Îmwe, Cassian Andor, K-2SO, Bodhi Rook, Jyn Erso
Summary:

"Did you know I'm worth a quarter herd of bantha?”

At Jyn’s sharp inhale, Baze said, without opening his eyes, “My husband is an unrepentant liar. He is barely worth one sick bantha, much less a healthy quarter herd.”

In which Chirrut and Baze have spent more than half their lives together, and Chirrut likes to spin stories of how they were married.

I don’t read many Rogue One fics, because there’s only so much heartbreak I can take, but this is one of the stories I find myself repeatedly returning to.

Probably because it has everything: tall tales, comfortably prickly old married banter, so much tenderness-- and an inevitable sense of threat hanging like a shroud over all the warmth and witty words.

I don’t come to this story for a good time-- or even for a good cry-- I come to experience a condensed, confused mix of ALL the feels, because sometimes that’s what you need. And this has never failed to deliver yet.
