Now this is the way I want my short fiction: hauntingly beautiful, emotionally compelling, and without a word out of place. And the effortless fit into the blank spaces of book!canon doesn’t hurt either.

It’s a grand tale of prejudice, and of Romance writ large (yet largely left unspoken) -- full and complete in the space of less than two thousand words, and I’m forever in awe of such writerly magic. But I think that's all I can say without spoiling the whole thing.

(Also I feel I should mention the E-rating likely has more to do with the technicalities of the archive import than with any actual explicitness going on in the story. Not that it feels lacking in any way, mind.)

Here’s to starting off the weekend with a treat!

I was rereading this story recently, and I mentioned to my roommate that I thought it feels like one of the sexiest things I've ever read that doesn't actually have any explicit content. Like the language itself is a lovemaking, and that's the best way I can think to explain it. Then I ended up quoting basically the whole thing to her. :)
