Today, I'm in the mood for something soft; something comforting and gently hopeful.

Something like this; an unhurried contemplation on trust and friendship and the overall strangeness of elves - and what it might mean for a dwarf to find himself caught in the intersection of the three.

The prose flows smooth as velvet, the poetic turns of phrase honey-sweet around the occasional blunt truth, evocative without turning cumbersome; the characterizations are so delightfully spot-on they could have stepped straight off the page, and the dialogue is like a dose of double-distilled joy - by turns forthright and solemn, or tender and playful with mischief, and always, always warm with love.

It’s a grim grey day today - but this is a perfect, bite-sized antidote; a flame caught in amber to drive off the chill.
