Series: Part 1 of unnamed Jaime/Brienne series

Summary:

Jaime and Brienne have survived the confrontation with Lady Stoneheart, at a terrible price.

For context, I observed with increasingly horrified fascination as my partner finished watching GoT (I haven't followed the show myself since S3 or thereabouts), and that flaming disaster of an ending prompted me to look up some good book!verse Jaime/Brienne fics.

And here you go: this piece is light on shippy content (except in Jaime's head), heavy on hurt and low on comfort. I would love to say it gets better, but really it doesn't. It's that kind of story. (And I really, really like it that way!).

However, it does an excellent job picking up where the canon left off, the author has a nice solid grip on the characters, and the second part of the series makes up for all the angst in this one.

Or most of it, and not only by introducing a different flavour of pain. Trust me.
