WIP Wednesday - a rough one
Apr. 24th, 2019 04:12 pmI need a new WIP like the fish needs the bicycle, but here we go again. Practically unedited... and accidentally will eventually fit a prompt in the 2000 Gigolas fics on AO3 challenge. Guess which?
Gimli looked coolly at the elf; man-tall, and fair in the way he supposed Men would call fair, dark of hair and pale of eye (Little did he know what he, Gimli son of Glóin, would be possessed to call fair one day. But she would be golden as the dawn and the noon. The Elvenking’s son was moonlit night and silver beneath the mountains, and as cold as either of those.) For weapons he carried but a bow and a long knife. ‘All speed and little skill,’ his father had scoffed, and he had seen elves in battle. But Gimli knew Glóin carried a grudge as well as any dwarf. He would see what he would see with his own eyes.
Legolas looked upon the dwarf, the breadth of his shoulders and the bulk of his strength incongruous for his height, and wondered what such dark eyes might see under the full light of day, winter-pale as it was. The dwarf caught his gaze then, and held it with a narrowed eye before turning silently away.

Date: 2019-04-24 05:35 pm (UTC)But I'm really looking forward to finding the right idea for the arranged marriage thing, because I love that trope. I actually considered writing it into the Fake Regency AU (with cross-dressing and lesbians, because why not) I have on the back burner, but I think that one's going to be more like a marriage of convenience if anything. And I have this weird fixation about writing it in a some sort of not-Middle-Earth AU, since it feels like such an ill fit in the canon verse, at least to me.
