I'm now breaking my habit of reccing mostly a) very new, or b) older and less famous stories, simply because I just now discovered this and I want as many people as possible to share in the joy.

Without spoiling too much, this is an insightful reimagining of how the canon story could have begun, and the small, medium-sized and profound changes that are brought about by the ripple effect. In other words, it's a story about found families, second chances and reckless acts of kindness.

Also beware of Sirius - he will break your heart, because not everything can be totally and instantly repaired, even in a fix-it.
